Emberhold
A downloadable Emberhold for Windows
Emberhold is a low-poly medieval survival game played from a top-down camera,
set in one continuous open world with no loading screens and no pause menu. The core hook:
you don't rule the village — you live in it. You're a single survivor who can't be in two
places at once. Over time, people arrive and settle, and they work, eat, get sick, form
relationships, and can die for real, all without you issuing a single order. There's no
village management screen; if you want to know what's happening at home, you have to walk
there yourself. Everything that lets the settlement grow — resources, discoveries, trade
goods — is found far away, out in the valley, which pulls you between caring for your own
body (hunger, cold, fatigue, injury) and caring for the community you've built. The game is
currently in active development, with a working settlement simulation, building/crafting,
day-night and seasonal cycles, and a Chronicle system that records what happened while you
were away instead of interrupting you with pop-ups.
